Detailed summary
Ira Stone, a journalist Crockett knew during his Vietnam days, tips him off about an American general who smuggled heroin into the U.S. after the fall of Saigon. Stone claims the general stowed the drug in the body bags of men being flown back home. He believes the heroin has been kept in storage all these years and has recently been released to the streets, laced with methanol. The man who told Stone about the body bag scam is Maynard, another wartime connection, now living in Miami. Crockett and Tubbs visit Maynard, who informs them there was never any general and that Stone made the whole thing up. The final confrontation in the Florida Keys reveals the duplicity of both Maynard and Stone.
