Detailed summary
One Maggie's first day at The Globe, she is assigned to do a human
interest story about the racetrack. However, when Maggie arrives there
she discovers that no one will talk to her. Only "accepted" sports writers
get entre on this turf.
Michael is troubled by Dr. Hooks' refusal to initiate an investigation into
Dr. Lantry's activities. Chase is not surprised and tells his cousin they'll
have to do their own digging. Chase is sure Angela is behind everything.
The reading of Jacqueline's will takes place in the Gioberti living room.
Both Chase and Richard inherit five million dollars. Furthermore, if at the
end of one year's time, Chase judges that Richard has made an honest
effort to be a real brother to him, the two will split an additional fifty
million dollars. If the brothers are still estranged, the money will go to an
order of nuns in Paris. Chase eyes Richard suspiciously. So this is the
reason Richard was being so cordial of late. Richard jokes that they
should become friends anyway in spite of the will.
Osborne continues reading the list of beneficiaries. Michael inherits the
McKay vineyards, which Richard bought with Jacqueline's money. Richard
must evacuate immediately. Maggie receives all of Jacqueline's furs and
jewels. Cole and Vickie are given one million dollars each and so is Joseph
Cumson-on one condition. The money is to be held in trust until his 21st
birthday and the young man receives it only if he leaves Falcon Crest and
acknowledges Cole as his true father. Angela is furious. "Joseph Cumson
is my great-grandson; he belongs to me!" she cries. Osborne calls the
group to order. There is one more bequest. To Angela Channing,
Jacqueline leaves the key to a hotel suite in San Francisco.
Richard is furious about losing the winery guessing that his mother once
again chose Chase over him but Melissa is there to cheer him up with the
reminder that he will be rich enough to have everything he wants.
Jacqueline has the last laugh with her bequest to Angela. When Angela
unlocks the door, Philip is to go with her. Losing no time, Angela and a
nervous Philip enter the room. On the king-sized bed is a note from
Jacqueline. "My legacy to you, Angela, is a first hand look at the spot
where Philip Erikson and I last made love!" Angela is livid as Philip hotly
denies the allegation. However, after he's left the room, Angela finds one
of his cuff links on the floor.
Realizing that Linda's father will never approve of him, Cole suggests he
and Linda elope in a jewelry store. Cole shocks the salesman by picking
out an $18,000 diamond ring. However, at the last minute, Cole calls
home and asks his parents to attend the ceremony. Reading their own
vows, Linda and Cole become man and wife in an intimate outdoor
ceremony.
In the women's penitentiary, Julia is being harassed by one of the
matrons, who turnout to be a former classmate, whose father Angela
fired from his job at Falcon Crest. Corinne Powers is determined to get
revenge. "By the time I get through with you, you're going to wish you'd
gotten the gas chamber," Powers threatens.
